Feb 05, 2025
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Engage in a thought-provoking evening of art, cuisine and meaningful dialogue exploring Caribbean cultural identity. Awkward Dinner: Exploring Caribbean Legacy and Identity takes place on Wednesday, February 5, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. Through a curated tour of Andrea Chung's exhibition, a catered meal from Jamaica Kitchen and a facilitated discussion, participants will have the opportunity to engage with themes of cultural identity, heritage and the lasting impact of history.
The event begins with a tour of Chung’s artwork, followed by a meal featuring traditional Caribbean dishes such as Escovich Fish, Rice and Peas, and Plantain. The discussion will be facilitated by South Florida People of Color, an organization dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices and fostering understanding across communities in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.
The Awkward Dinner series, a platform for meaningful conversations since 2015, aims to inspire reflection and shared growth for a more inclusive and equitable South Florida. Space is limited to ensure an intimate setting for discussion.
