Jan 26, 2025 - Mar 23, 2025
From: Noon to 5:00 PM
Delve into the narratives of South Florida’s past and present with a thought-provoking group exhibition at the Deering Estate. On view from January 26 to March 23, 2025, Deering Contemporary: Unraveled Tales features site-specific works by international and Miami-based artists, curated by Angela Chaine.
The exhibition explores ancestral stories, migration narratives, and the environmental and historical legacies that continue to shape the region. Spanning diverse media such as sculpture, textiles, photography and video performance, the works connect viewers to the land’s layered histories while reflecting on the impact of urban development. Displayed across the Estate’s grounds and the Garden Room of the Richmond Cottage, the exhibit invites imaginative engagement with South Florida’s evolving identity. Participating artists include Amanda Linares, Pamela Suasti, Laura Villarreal, Nicole Pedraza, Juliana Torres, Claudio Marcotulli, Carol Jazzar and Dona Altemus.
The opening reception on January 26, 2025, from 12–5 p.m., is free with RSVP. Daily admission includes access to the exhibit, with additional workshops and programming offered throughout its run. Supported by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and The Deering Estate Foundation, this exhibition honors the cultural and environmental heritage of this nationally recognized landmark.
