EPIC Art: Loretta Harms
Mar 01, 2025 - Apr 30, 2025
Contemporary art and cinematic storytelling converge in a multimedia exploration of influential cultural figures and pop icons, with a special focus on women in motorsports. EPIC Art presents the work of acclaimed artist and filmmaker Loretta Harms at Kimpton EPIC Miami from March through April 2025. Known for her work as Executive Producer of the Sony Pictures Classics film Lambert & Stamp about The Who's management team, Harms brings her unique artistic vision to the hotel's 16th floor gallery space. Her exhibition combines painting, printmaking and digital manipulation techniques, creating layered narratives that invite viewer interaction.
This installation is part of EPIC Art's Artist in Residency Program, which showcases diverse local talent and provides hotel visitors with an authentic connection to Miami's contemporary art scene. Harms returns to EPIC following her successful curatorial work in the hotel's grand lobby during previous Miami Art Basel weeks. Her current exhibition features silkscreen prints and paintings that capture the raw emotion and emblematic pace of women drivers competing and claiming victories on tracks worldwide.
Drawing from both fine arts and filmmaking backgrounds, Harms employs a distinctive Pop art sensibility that merges painterly techniques with mechanical print methods. Her work incorporates brush, pen, photographic and digital processes, repeat patterning and gestural embellishment. The exhibition creates hybridized pictorial reliefs with vivid color schemes and enigmatic narratives, referencing commercial advertising and branded sponsorship while maintaining a Mod mystique. The installation is complemented by video loops and sculptural elements that celebrate the grit, complexity and boundless spirit of women making their mark in motorsports.
Harms' work has been featured at prestigious institutions including the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Kunsthalle Munich. A complimentary opening reception will take place on Thursday, March 6 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
