Los Mirlos

Psychedelic Amazonian rhythms merge with traditional Andean sounds in the pioneering compositions of a legendary Peruvian ensemble. Los Mirlos bring their influential take on cumbia to the Miami Beach Bandshell on April 9, marking a special appearance before their performance at Coachella Festival.

For over five decades, the group has been instrumental in transforming cumbia's musical landscape, creating a distinctive fusion that emerged from Moyobamba, where Peru's Andes meet the Amazon. Since their official formation in Lima in 1973, Los Mirlos have shaped Latin American popular music, reaching new generations of listeners drawn to their psychedelic interpretation of traditional rhythms.

The 8 p.m. performance features an opening set by Miami-based Argentine producer DJ Richie Hell, whose own musical explorations have been shaped by Los Mirlos' innovative approach to Latin American sounds. This concert is presented by The Rhythm Foundation.
