ScreenDance Miami: Official Selections & Invited Short Film
Jan 25, 2025
From: Noon to 4:00 PM
Explore the dynamic intersection of dance and film with two programs of curated short films at Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). Presented as part of the ScreenDance Miami Festival 2025, the screenings highlight diverse works from choreographers and filmmakers exploring movement through the lens of cinema.
The first program begins at 12:00 p.m. with a one-hour selection of short films, including The Rooster, a reflection on power dynamics; Batientes, an exploration of thresholds; and Immortellis, a personal journey captured on 8mm film. A brief conversation with filmmakers follows the screening.
The second program starts at 3:00 p.m., highlighting works such as Kankantri (The Silk Cotton Tree), a ritualistic journey through ancestral connections, and other pieces that weave together stories of identity and transformation through movement.
Curated by festival director Pioneer Winter, this event celebrates the storytelling potential of dance and its ability to connect audiences through powerful visual narratives. Admission is free with RSVP.
