A pioneering voice in conscious reggae brings his spiritual and musical legacy to Miami Beach. Sizzla Kalonji performs at the Miami Beach Bandshell on Friday, March 28, presented by Morning Spring Rain.
Since emerging in the late 1990s, the Jamaican artist has been instrumental in reshaping dancehall music by incorporating roots reggae elements and Rastafarian themes. Born Miguel Collins in St. Mary, Jamaica, Sizzla developed his distinctive style performing with Caveman Hi-Fi sound system before launching his recording career in 1995. His collaboration with producer Fattis "Exterminator" Burrell helped establish him as an international figure in reggae music.
The evening opens with a performance by Marlon Asher, known for his reggae anthem Ganja Farmer. This showcase brings together two generations of reggae artists at one of Miami Beach's signature outdoor venues.
