Mar 08, 2025 - Mar 24, 2025
From: 10:00 AM to Noon
Explore the intricate relationship between memory, history and borders through captivating works of contemporary art. Vulnerable Maps brings together the distinctive perspectives of artists E. Martin Fierro and J.M. Pozo at Miami Dade College's Hialeah Campus from March 8 through March 24, with an opening brunch celebration on March 8 from 10 AM to noon.
This thought-provoking exhibition, supported by the Centro Cultural Español in Miami, showcases recent paintings, drawings and installations that examine the concept of boundaries through personal and cultural lenses. Featured as part of the XI International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art, the exhibition highlights how both artists employ techniques of décollage and layered imagery to explore themes of displacement and sociocultural identity. Fierro, a professor at the University of La Laguna, Tenerife, and Pozo, a notable figure in 1990s Cuban art, each bring their unique experiences to bear on questions of frontiers and limits, creating works that resonate with contemporary global dialogues about borders and belonging.
