Like many Miami Beach Art Deco hotels of the period, this hotel (built in 1941) was recruited and served its country by housing United States Air Force cadets from 1941-1949. Appropriately stylish, the dashing commander of the West Point Cadets housed at the hotel was none other than Captain Clark Gable.
