Surfside Community Center
Visitor Information & Local Services
Every neighborhood needs a good meeting place, and in Surfside, that’s the Town of Surfside Community Center. Sitting right on Collins Avenue, this multipurpose, oceanfront facility was built with everyone in mind. In addition to housing the Parks and Recreation office and the local Tourist Bureau office, there’s a recreational pool with lap lanes, a plunge pool, a waterslide, a children's activity pool, a Jacuzzi, locker rooms, a first aid station, family restrooms and two multipurpose rooms that host a year-round schedule of activities and programs for all ages. Outside, there’s a green space where residents and community leaders can host parties or neighborhood events, and an onsite snack bar and grill with tasty sandwiches, fresh burgers, salads and ice cream cones to go.
The Town of Surfside Community Center has been the site of hundreds of community events, meetings, weddings and holiday functions. The original Community Center launched a summer camp program over 35 years ago that’s still popular today. Every year, the center works with the Surfside Police to organize a Halloween block party with safe trick-or-treating. During the Christmas season, the town brings in piles of fake snow for kids to play on during “Winterfest.” On New Year’s Eve and the 4th of July, the whole neighborhood comes to the Center to watch fireworks over the sand. In 1964, the Town of Surfside Community Center really gained a claim to fame when World Heavyweight Champion, Sonny Liston, trained at the facility for his historic fight against Cassius Clay—better known as Muhammad Ali.
Programs for All Ages
